Makenzie @ Disney World

This summer we spent almost two weeks vacationing in Florida. One week was in Orlando doing all the amusement parks. Disney World of course was our favorite but we had a lot of fun riding all the rides at the various neighboring parks and Universal Studios.

One of Makenzie's favorite things at Disney World was getting autographs from all the characters. We had a lot of fun doing this together. It will always be one of my best memories of the trip.

I thought it would be fun to post these for Makenzie. You are never too old to enjoy Disney. We had such a wonderful time there !!

Christopher's 1st Birthday

Since I just started blogging ..... I thought I would post a few pictures from Christopher's first birthday. We just had a small family party at the house the day after Christopher's birthday (because Josh had a football party the day of his birthday). It was a Sesame Street theme ..... Christopher loves Elmo.

First mistake, don't have a one year old's party in the evening. He was ready for bed before it was over. We had dinner, then cake & ice cream and opened presents. He wasn't quite sure what to make of the BIG piece of cake placed in front of him. Then he finally after some coaxing started making a mess but not really eating it.

After a quick bath, he got the hang of ripping open the presents alot faster and enjoyed playing with them until we finally put him to bed. His big present was a Little Leap toy to ride and play on, which he likes to sit on backwards.

Overall, a wonderful first birthday party.

Liberty Warriors 8th Grade Football Season

I thought I would post some of Josh's football pictures now that the season is officially over tonight. One of the things that Josh really likes about football ...... the emphasis is more on being a 'TEAM' than on winning. Don't get me wrong they love to win and had a great season finishing with a 9-1 record.

I am so proud of Josh!! He really stepped up this year in football and excelled on both offense and defense. He enjoyed getting to have a lot more play time than he has ever had before. However, the most improvement that I saw was in his attitude and the way that he treated his team mates.

Liberty is big on teaching the kids good values and morals in every aspect of their life. We love having this reinforcement at school. ;-)

btw, he is #59 .....

Fun Day at the Zoo

The weather has been so nice lately that I have been dying to get out and do something. Other activities kept us so busy in October that we were not able to do some of the fun Halloween things that we normally do (ie. local pumpkin patch, Six Flags Fright Fest, Boo at the Zoo, etc.).

So I decided last night that we were going to go to the zoo today. We have switched to Saturday night service to open up room for visitors on Sundays, and I have to admit that at first it was a little strange but now I really liking it because it gives us a whole day to spend together.

I knew Christopher would really enjoy going. He LOVES animals, and I tease him that he is our little monkey boy. Jim was not able to join us because he had a lot of work to catch up on now that he is helping watch Christopher since I am working again. Both the kids asked to invite a friend to go with us. Josh brought his friend, Jacob that he has known since Kindergarten. They went to the same elementary school and he also lived in our old neighborhood. Makenzie invited her friend, Ida who is originally from Finland. They were in the same third grade class and Ida lived around the corner from our house on Lockesley. So the four of them, Christopher and myself left this morning around 10:30 and arrived home at 4:30 this afternoon.

It was a beautiful day to go. The weather was perfect ... not too hot and not chilly at all. The zoo was wasn't crowded,so we were able to really enjoy ourselves and take our time walking around. Christopher was in awe of all the animals and just loved watching them in their habitat. He did so well today sitting in his stroller. Toward the end when we were getting ready to take the train ride around the park, he started fussing. The kids were ready so we decided it was time to head home. Even though Josh probably won't admit it .... I think even the teenagers enjoyed our spontaneous day at the zoo.
